Recognized for building a framework to standardize and reuse software assets aimed at improving development efficiency and quality

Hitachi has been honored for its efforts to strengthen development across a wide range of software in the Hitachi group, earning induction into the prestigious “Product Line Hall of Fame.” The certificate was presented at the 29th ACM SPLC 2025 (Systems and Software Product Line Conference)*1 held on the 4th September 2025, in A Coruña, Spain.
*1) Organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), an international academic society in the field of computer science.
The “Product Line Hall of Fame” was established by SPLC in 2000 to recognize outstanding software product lines that have played a pioneering role in the industry and serve as exemplary models. To date, 21 software product lines worldwide have received this distinction.
This year’s inductee is “Hitachi SPLE *2 Adoption Framework and Its Product Lines.” Since 2004, Hitachi’s Research & Development Group, together with Hitachi’s MONOZUKURI Strategy Division and Quality Assurance Group, has led initiatives aimed at improving software development efficiency and quality across the Hitachi Group.
*2) SPLE: Software Product Line Engineering
Specifically, Hitachi has developed and refined a framework to systematically promote the standardization and reuse of software assets across products, addressing the growing complexity and scale of embedded software development. The outcomes of these efforts have been shared through more than 20 presentations at SPLC and related conferences, as well as in journal publications on software product lines. The induction into the Hall of Fame reflects the high level of technical excellence and significant contributions to the field.
Innovation in systems and software development requires continuous analysis of challenges and the adoption of new technologies. Hitachi will continue to engage with external communities and promote the advancement of SPL technologies through ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
